Macri, Greenspan & Moramarco was founded 50 years ago, and the firm has been at its present location since 1987. Two of the original 3 partners, Raphael Greenspan and Eugene Moramarco, are still active in the practice.
From its inception, Macri, Greenspan & Moramarco has represented a variety of individuals and business entities, mostly in the areas of commercial and residential real estate, including developers, builders, investors, landlords, tenants, buyers and sellers. Raphael (Ray) Greenspan graduated from Brooklyn Law School and has been in practice for over 50 years. Early in his career, Ray was recruited by Price Waterhouse to work in their tax department where he obtained his CPA certification and served as consultant and advisor through Price Waterhouse to many Fortune 500 companies. Since co-founding Macri, Greenspan & Moramarco, Ray has successfully put together real estate limited partnerships and syndications with private investors. He has represented a wide range of business clients in various transactions. Ray also has represented clients before the IRS in resolving all manner of tax disputes and has represented several National Hockey League players in connection with tax and estate planning.
Ray is a leader in his community having served as past president of his Temple and in various volunteer capacities for the Boy Scouts of America, including serving on the Northeast Regional Board.
Ray continues to be sought out by clients for his broad base knowledge and experience in estate planning and general business matters and they greatly benefit from his knowledge and experience.
Eugene (Gene) Moramarco, a graduate of the University of Virginia School of Law, is a founding partner of the firm and has practiced law for over 50 years. Gene has concentrated his practice in the area of business and real estate, specializing in commercial real estate, high end multi-million dollar residences, tract home developments and commercial leasing.
In addition, Gene has an active general business practice wherein he represents many clients in the acquisition and sale of a variety of businesses.
A longtime resident of Westbury, New York, Gene has served as counsel to a wide range of business clients on Long Island.
As a founding member of this firm, Gene takes great pride in having provided dedicated service and individual attention to the needs of each client.
James W. Cooke (Jim) has over 30 years legal experience and represents clients primarily in the areas of commercial and residential real estate, business transactions, commercial litigation and wills, trusts and estates practice.
Both businesses and individuals whom Jim represents benefit from his vast experience in transactional work, contract drafting, litigation and representation of individuals in contested and uncontested Surrogate's Court proceedings. Jim's ability to handle complex transactional work and his courtroom experience provide a solid base for the invaluable advice he provides to the firm's clients.
Jim received his Juris Doctor degree from the State University of New York at Buffalo. He is admitted to practice law in the State of New York and the Federal Courts in the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York. He is a member of the Nassau County and New York State Bar Associations.
